The success of any community is in its strong economy resulting in a better life for its citizens. Quality education results in higher average income, enabling people to enjoy a better standard of living and quality of life. Unfortunately, currently, Liberia is significantly behind in most Other African countries in nearly education statistics. It has one of the highest levels of out-school children, with an estimated 15 to 20 percent of a-year-old Who are not in Class. resulting in millions of youth waking up to no education. No financial resources to feed families, leading them to hopelessness and despair. They spend all their prime year putting their dignity at stake, searching and failing to find opportunities to grow and create a better life for themselves and their families.

To respond to the devastation of civil war in Liberia and seek to reconcile divided communities, five US-based Nimbaians set up Nimba County Youth Organization in 1996. Partnering with UNICCO, we renamed our organization UNYDA.
We’ve come a long way since, supporting and empowering Liberian communities at home and abroad.
